Born 1968 in Malmö, Sweden, Marko Wramén have been working with journalism since 1992. Military service was fulfilled as a sonar operator on a Swedish Royal Navy submarine. As a side note he later had a summer job as the captain of an underwater safari boat on the Swedish West Coast.

He attended the University of Gothenburg’s program for journalism 1991-1993 and has continued to take courses in journalism, marine biology and election observation at several Swedish universities.

In the early career he worked as a news reporter for Swedish National Radio SR in Malmö and Kristianstad. He was also Editor in chief at Scandinavias oldest student magazine, Lundagård with traditions since 1920. Then followed work as a news reporter specialised in university news at the Swedish daily newspaper Sydsvenskan.

In January 1996 Marko started to work as a freelance journalist.

Right from the start he specialised in travel stories and diving stories. For a while he was an editor of the now sadly deceased Swedish diving magazine UVM. Later he started a still ongoing cooperation with the Scandinavian diving magazine DYK where he worked as an editor on freelance basis for a while.

In 1998 Marko Wramén took up underwater filmmaking and started his company Waterglobe Productions. The first assignment was a 30 minutes documentary about breath hold freediving for SVT, Swedish National Television. This film was shot in Sweden, The Red Sea and Sardinia and was later rewarded with the Spanish Olympic Committees special prize at the international sport films festival in Santander.

The same year he produced an information film about diving safety for Sjösäkerhetsrådet, the Swedish national board of safety at sea.

The next production was a documentary about wreck diving shot in 1998 and 1999 in southern Sweden and northern Norway, also this one for SVT. The film had great successes at international underwater film festivals and was awarded in Antibes, Elba and Moscow.

In the year of 2000 a new chapter in the career opened up with the assignment as a Chief Press Officer and spokesperson in the Swedish KFOR peace-keeping troops in Kosovo. This was followed up with a job as the Swedish liaison officer with responsibilities for minority media at the Information and Media department of the British-led KFOR Multinational Brigade headquarters, then in Pristina, Kosovo.

Coming back to Sweden late 2001 Marko Wramén had the honour to be appointed as the Chairman of a polling station in his hometown Malmö.

A further step in the international field was taken in 2004 when he was contracted as an international election observer for the Swedish governmental aid agency Sida with missions in Kosovo in October 2004 and Ukraine in December 2004.

In April 2005 Marko Wramén moved to Brussels, Belgium. There he continues his freelance activities, amongst other things as a photo stringer for the Swedish daily newspaper Göteborgs-Posten.

The summer of 2006, he spent in Israel and the West Bank, learning more about the region and the conflict.

Autumn 2006, Marko started to take photos for Scandinavias biggest Photo Agency, Scanpix.

The 25th of November 2006, he moved to Jerusalem. Here, he continues to work as a freelance journalist and photographer.
