The heat wave is suffocating, but life must go on. So we went to Ramallah with Susann, Anna, Ruby, Lotta and a colleague of Lotta & Susann. While going there, Anna & Ruby was stopped from passing through the special diplomatic checkpoint that we normally use. So Lotta (who has a diplomatic passport) had to drive out of Ramallah, through the checkpoint, pick them up and then talk them through the checkpoint again. She is so kind!
After this little adventure, we had a surprisingly good dinner at a Mexican place called Sangria. But the main attraction of the night was a concert in Ramallah. The Algerian singer Souad Massi is quite famous, and rightly so. This was actually the second time we had tickets to a concert with her – first time was in Lebanon, but the war came in between.
Although the sound was rather crappy in the beginning, she was really good. As was the pre-band, a French ethno-rap-band called Ministere des Affaires Populaire. So we had a really enjoyable evening. That we had some difficulties finding our way out of Ramallah in the dark night afterwards is just part of the adventure.
