Every Friday we have a staff meeting at ANERA. This time, our boss Tom told us that our local office in Gaza was almost hit by an israeli air attack yesterday. They bombed a Hamas house close by, and the explosions shattered every single window of the office, showering our staff with glass splinter. Luckily, none of them where seriosly injured. For some of them, the same thing had happend in their homes, not a single window left unbroken. Others had to negotiate with Hamas, stopping them from taking over their apartments and using them to attack the surrounding. Not everyone succeeded, instead ending up being locked up in an inner room, while the Hamas men was shooting from the windows in the apartment. it is horrible and so sad, the development in Gaza. They are really shooting their last chances into pieces.
Back in Jerusalem, everything is quiet. We had a picnic in a park, playing backgammon, sipping cool wine and nibbling on Permiggano reggiano cheese I bought in Bologna. In the evening we went out for dinner at a bar/restaurant called Colony. Nice. Tonight I am off for Brussels, then Provence.
