Early this morning, we took a walk along the coastal road, to the fish market. The fishermen were displaying their catch – shrimps, prawns, sardines and a number of guitarfishes, that are actually rays, but look like sharks.
When we continued our walk along the coast, we were soon stopped by a Palestinian/Hamas checkpoint. Later on we learned that the Israeli Navy had fired missiles at a compound in this area yesterday evening. We never noticed, since we were having dinner south of Gaza City, at the seaside restaurant Haifa. It was a beautiful setup, a little pagoda on a little cliff above the beach, with waves crashing in. Now and then there was a horse galloping past in the waterfront. A camel came running a long the water as well.
Later, at nine, I held a two-hour photo seminar for ANERA’s Gaza staff. The idea was to inspire them to take better photos, both privately and at work.
