Today I toured the Jordan valley. First, I visited An Nuwei’ma, a little village just north of Jericho where ANERA is installing a water network.
From here, I continued north through the desert. In the middle of nowhere, a few kids had parked their donkeys under a tree next to a water canal. The canal, where water passed through at a brisk speed, was filled with stones high enough to create a little dam – perfectly located un the shade of the tree to create a cooling bath. The boys were happily splashing around, the donkeys looking with lazy gazes. In the background, a bigger tree was full of hungry goats, even more of them seeking shade underneath the branches.
