With the cease-fire holding, I started at 06.00 and drove through the beautiful Jordan Valley, along the heavily guarded Jordan border. My goal was Mevo Hama, a paragliding site in the Southern Golan Heights, overlooking the Sea of Galilee.
The briefing was typically Israeli; you can start here on the top, and land down there, 200 meters below sea level. Do not try to land in between; there are still Syrian mines there. You can also land on the top if you gain sufficient altitude. But avoid the minefields.
Despite all this, I had some wonderful flying, gliding high above a kibbutz, a bunker and a few old trenches. Horses were roaming underneath and the Sea of Galilee glittered, partly shrouded in haze. The only bad thing was the heat - it was a bit over 40°C.
