Having water is a blessing

Next, engineers Nahed, Muhammad and Usama took us to northern Gaza to visit places where ANERA renovated, extended or otherwise improved water and sewage networks (this is through a USAID-funded program called EWAS). This might sound trivial, but having clean water in a tap in your house is a luxury that not everyone has. While walking the dusty alleys in the Shusha’a area, we were quickly surrounded by curious kids. We talked with the people we met, and after a while, a man called Said invited us into his home. He was very happy having clean water in the tap available whenever he wanted – a novelty for him and all his neighbors.

Afterwards, we returned to our Gaza office (ANERA’s biggest in the worls with approx. 25 employees) for a staff lunch together and a group photo. It is so nice to get to know all these colleagues, who before were only names without faces in emails and reports.
