Susann told us about an upcoming performance with dancing Dervishes from Turkey. Since we missed them both in Damascus and Istanbul, we were very happy to buy tickets for this event in Ramallah.
Arriving at the cultural center there, it turned out to be a big misunderstanding. Sue, the Dervishes would swirl their kaftans in enchanting dance, but not today. That was another day. Today, on the other hand, there was a performance with a German jazz accordionist. I never heard of neither him, nor the musical combination of accordion and jazz, but it sounded interesting. So in we went.
It was surprisingly good. The accordionist, Manfred Leuchter, had a band consisting of a German woman playing the clarinet, a Palestinian on bass and a very competent percussionist, also Palestinian (I think).
Sometimes, life is full of surprises!
