Sunday was planned to be a family-day. But first I had to write the article about hotels in Amsterdam, and send the photos. Then we drove to Femke’s grandparents for a nice lunch in their garden. On the photo, Femke is showing photo from Gaza to her grandparents, with her parents watching as well.
In the afternoon, we took the train to the naval town Den Helder in northern Holland to meet Linda Rose, a close friend to the family. She gave us an insiders guided tour to the city (she is a politician there, so knows the inns and outs), which of course included a glass of beer and some bitterballe at a seaside terrace. This is becoming a habit!
In the evening, we had another tasty dinner and then took the train back to Uitgeest. I am duly impressed by the Dutch public transport system. There are trains everywhere, they are fast, frequent and often on time. Excellent!
