The next morning, Ruth and Zander, our hosts, treated us with an enormous breakfast on their sunny balcony. A perfect way to start the day! Then, we ventured down to the city enter of Utrecht to do some shopping and have a fika. It is a very charming city with canals crisscrossing between the old houses. In many places, there are low-laying terraces just next to the canals – perfect places for a lunch or something to drink. This is exactly what Femke and Ruth are doing on the photo above.

 

In the evening, we took the train back to Uitgeest and then went out for dinner with Femke’s parents. This has turned into a real gourmet-holiday :-).
