Next was a visit to a clinic specialized in malnourished children. It is supported by the Hanan project, where ANERA is deeply involved. Here, the children are measured and weighted. If they are much shorter and lighter than they should be for their age (sadly, many are), they and their parents receive support, ranging from good advice and education to medical treatment and actually feeding the children on-site. They also run a pharmacy and a clinic for breast-feeding. Malnourishment is a real problem in Gaza, stemming not only from poverty, but also a lack of education and of traditions not compatible with good health.
