I never thought I would be so glad to see Europe again, but flying in over the Netherlands and seeing all the green meadows, the stout cows and the many canals filled me with joy. It fills so good to be back in the civilized world again.
We flew direct from Tel Aviv to Amsterdam with El Al, which was surprisingly good. Food was nice and there was a film (although it was crap, the new Spiderman). I read Swedish crime novel, taking place mostly in Stockholm. Well, Sweden has to wait until next month, this trip will be to the Netherlands.
When we arrived to Uitgeest (40 minutes with train from Amsterdam, this is where Femke’s parents lives) the cats were waiting for us outside. We fed them and then borrowed Femke’s parents bikes (they are in Sri Lanka on holiday, but will come back tomorrow) and biked down to the local Chinese restaurant. What a treat, to ride a bike and to breath fresh cool air, scented with green grass and summer. And the light! When you come back, you really realize how much you missed it all.
