Today, we slept long, then enjoyed a relaxed breakfast on our terrace. The weather looked very promising for paragliding, so I called Yotev, a local pilot living in Netanya, to check if it was flyable there. Indeed it was!
I quickly packed my stuff and headed northwest. Sara joined me.
Arriving in Netanya, the tandem pilots where flying, but it was to windy for me, 30-36 km/h. So we had an ice cream at the beach (both of us staining our clothes...).
An hour later, the wind was perfect, and I took up for a lovely afternoon of flying. This is only the second time I fly in Netanya. Now, I managed to use the high hotel close to the launch to reach an altitude of some 90 meters :-)
The good thing about this place is that the launch is grass covered, and you meet a lot of people (although the rocks are not as good for flying as at Arsuf, a few kilometers south). Yotev came by and took off, and I met a nice pilot called Assaf. I also met Adam, testpilot at Apco, the Israeli paragliding manufacturer, and Marcus King, editor on the international paragliding magazine CrossCountry. Fun!
In the evening, we all went out to have dinner, celebrating Sara’s birthday. Congratulations!
