So, I am back in Jerusalem and the Middle East again. To make the transition from smiling the Netherlands to no-reason-to-smile Israel/Palestine, there is a heat wave right now. 34°C in the shade, 40 in the sun. Puh.
Luckily, the work is interesting, and the friends nice. Tuesday evening, I went to Ramallah with Anna and a friend oh her to see the premiere of a movie about Jerusalem and Israel’s policy towards the city and it’s Palestinian population. Very interesting. Lotta, Susann and Claudia was already there, and a Palestinian colleague of them as well. Afterwards, we had a drink in the garden of the Sangria restaurant, where José, a Spanish guy, joined us.
Wednesday and Thursday, I joined Hani and Muhammad in ANERA’s warehouse in Beitin (east of Ramallah) to take photos of them receiving a shipment of medicines. It is always interesting to learn new things and meet new people. While I was there, I also met a member of the village council who told lot’s of incredible stories about his time in the US and in the US Army.
